Prof. Dr. Andree Kirchner, LL.M.

Professor Dr. Kirchner ist Gründungsdirektor des Institutes für Seevölkerrecht und Internationales Meeresumweltrecht (ISRIM).

Er ist seit 2007 Professor für Internationales Recht an der Hochschule Bremerhaven und lehrt dort seit 2005 insbesondere in den Studiengängen "Maritime Technologien" und "Integrated Safety and Security Management". Zudem hat er verschiedene Lehrverpflichtungen übernommen:


Zudem ist er Counsel der MLS Legal GmbH - Rechtsanwalts- und Fachanwaltsgesellschaft in Bremen/Berlin.

Professor Kirchner ist seit 1997 im Bereich des Seevölkerrechts und internationalen Meeresumweltrechts tätig.
Von 2002-2006 war er als unabhängiger Völkerrechtsberater für das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) tätig. In dieser Funktion hat er an diversen Ressortabstimmungen und Abstimmungen im Rahmen der Europäischen Union (EU) sowie als Mitglied der Deutschen Delegation an diversen internationalen Konferenzen teilgenommen, wie beispielsweise:

  • United Nations Open-ended Informal Consultative Process on the Law of the Sea (UNICPOLOS),
  • Ad hoc Open-ended Working Group on Protected Areas der Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD),
  • Working Group on Marine Protected Areas, Species and Habitats (MASH) der OSPAR Convention.

Zuvor war er von 1997-2004 als unabhängiger Völkerrechtsberater für die gemeinnützige Gesellschaft für Angewandten Umweltschutz und Sicherheit im Seeverkehr (GAUSS) an der Hochschule Bremen tätig. in diesem Kontext hat er u.a. die International Conference on Marine Environmental Law (ICMEL) in 2002 in Bremen geleitet.

Im Rahmen von zwei Forschungsaufenthalten war Prof. Kirchner in 2000 für das United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi bzw. in 1998 für die International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London tätig.
